Fire TV / Firestick Users: Trouble Installing Downloader or Other Apps?
Important information for Fire TV users who encounter problems while installing apps.

Some Fire TV and Firestick users may encounter problems while setting up apps that require installation outside of Amazon's Appstore.
You may notice that Downloader is missing from the "Install Unknown Apps" list, the list is empty or incomplete, or an APK downloads successfully but Fire TV will not allow you to install it.
|
Good to know: This does not necessarily mean your Firestick is incompatible, that sideloading is no longer possible, or that you need to replace your device. Fire OS software behavior can prevent eligible applications such as Downloader from appearing correctly in the installation-permission list.

Important: If Amazon search displays an unfamiliar application simply because its name contains "Downloader", do not assume it is the same application referenced in our setup instructions. Do not install random substitutes in an attempt to work around the problem.
|
If this happens before you are able to install your IPTV application, changing your IPTV username, password, playlist, server, or subscription will not correct the installation problem. The Fire TV installation issue needs to be addressed first.

Your Firestick May Still Be Usable
If the normal installation method does not work, there are additional ways to install the required application. Our troubleshooting guide covers the available paths so you can work toward getting the Fire TV or Firestick you already own set up and working.

If your Firestick is working normally and Downloader appears under Install Unknown Apps, you can continue following the regular Firestick setup instructions. No additional troubleshooting is necessary.
